One Grocery Haul, One Week of Meals + Shopping List

As I’m sure you can tell, I’ve been posting a lot of recipes lately as I’ve been trying more new ones.  However, I’ve been trying to also make these dishes fit into our budget.

Below is my first installation of my weekly grocery shopping haul, and links to all of the recipes made from said haul.

For ~$76 we brought home:

  • 3 lbs Pork Tenderloin
  • 1 lb Beef sirloin
  • 1 1/2 lb flank steak
  • 2 bell peppers
  • 1 bag Steam-able stir fry vegetable blend
  • 3 cans pumpkin puree
  • 1 Jar Roasted red peppers
  • 1 can chick peas
  • 1 can coconut milk
  • Baking powder and baking soda
  • Liquid smoke
  • 1 small can bamboo shoots
  • 2 Bags of chopped salad kits
  • 1 container of powder greens
  • 1 Dozen eggs
  • bananas
  • 1 grapefruit
  • 2-3 apples
  • 1 small/medium container of pineapple
  • 1 bag dark chocolate chips

Bah-bam.  Seriously that was our haul.  With this list, and some clutch pantry items I made the following Recipes:

Hate to keep you waiting on the Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins, but I am working on a gluten free.variety of these in addition to the traditional version started by my mother.  Once done both versions will be posted on here.

Since I’m shorting you that recipe- let me make it up to you with kale:

Sauteed Kale & Chickpeas

  • Servings: 2
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

  • 2-3 cups power greens- shred by hand
  • 1 can chick peas – drained
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp olive oil

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet – add chick peas and greens
  2. Heat until the greens wilt – season as desired – and bam you have lunch or dinner sides (sunny side up eggs go great on this to

But here you go- by following this list you have a weeks worth of meals, and again I spent roughly $76 – which breaks down to $15.20 per day (~$5 per meal/$2.50 per person).  And again that’s with buying muffin ingredients!!

Pat is starting to come over to my way of thinking with the meal/recipe planning ahead of time to compare with sales to save money.
